Shanon is senior counsel to INQ Data Law. Shanon has over 40 years experience at the Bar. Shanon advises numerous private sector, not-for-profit and charitable organizations on governance and commercial law.  Her specialties include mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and commercial law in the health sector.

Shanon’s health law practice focuses on health regulatory matters and involves advising hospitals, suppliers to the health care sector, community care access centres, foundations, a laboratory, hair replacement centres and other stakeholders in the health services sector. Shanon is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation allied with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine, where she has been teaching Health Law and Ethics since 2001.

Among the work Shanon has done are the review of, and advice on, codes of conduct for private sector health related organizations; drafting of numerous commercial agreements for the supply of goods and services; the preparation of various policies (both internal and external) for organizations; and advice on regulatory matters when venturing into Canada

Prior to joining INQ Data Law, Shanon was a senior partner at the top-tier law firm of McCarthy Tétrault. At McCarthy, Shanon founded the health regulatory practice that she led for over 20 years.  

Shanon received her B.A. (Hons.) from the University of British Columbia and her LL.B. from the University of Toronto. She was called to the Ontario bar in 1978 and joined INQ Data Law in the spring of 2019.
